JUNE 2009 UPDATE JUNE CALENDAR There are no studio closures for the month of June. Please note that there are 5 Mondays and 5 Tuesdays this month and that there will be no extra charge to those who pay their fees monthly. Private lessons will be charged per lesson as always. There are some schedule changes this month, so please check the calendar to see if your class (es) are at the same time. ORANGE COUNTY FAIR SHOW FRIDAY, JULY 31 AT 3:00 P.M. Congratulations! Our studio has been chosen to dance at the Orange County Fair. Following is a list of the group dances that may be performing: Happy Feet Voodoo Freeze Frame Head in the Game Colors of the Wind Welcome to Rio We will also accept solos, duets and trios on a first come, first serve basis since our show is limited in time. We also have a limited amount of FREE PERFORMERS TICKETS which will be given out in order of permission slips turned in. Please include a $10 practice fee with your permission slip. Each student will only be charged one practice fee regardless of the number of dances performing. Additional practices will be scheduled July 29 &/or July 30. *** IMPORTANT NOTE: Although we would like everyone to have the opportunity to participate, we do have a limit on the number of performers we can bring. WE WILL ACCEPT PERMISSION SLIPS ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS UNTIL THE SHOW IS FULL*** EXCITING NEWS! This month we will be moving our additional studio from the end space to right next door! Please pardon the mess and a few classes being combined while we make the transition. We hope to have the new space up and running as soon as possible! THAT’S DANCIN’ COMPETITION Congratulations!!! We are so proud of each and every one of our performers. You all did a fantastic job and helped Melodie’s Dance Theatre to win the 1st runner up award for TOP STUDIO. This is an especially great honor considering the maximum points that can be achieved in the beginning and intermediate levels is much lower than in the advanced category and that we only had one dance in the advanced level and still received the second highest total points! Thank you to all teachers, performers and parents for helping to make this possible. Your cooperation makes things so much easier for your teachers! RELAY FOR LIFE SHOW This Saturday, June 6 is the Relay for Life show. Please reply to this email or sign up at the desk if you’d like to participate. There will be a "run-thru" of the show this Saturday from 12-12:30. STUDIO DRESS CODE A reminder that although the studio does not have specific coloring/brand requirements, proper dance attire and shoes are required for all classes. Denim is not appropriate dance wear. PRIVATE LESSONS Solo, duet, trio, feature and private group applications for the 2010 show will be available and begin being accepted beginning July 1, 2009. Applications will be accepted first come, first serve until all available slots are filled, with first priority going to currently scheduled private lessons (in the order they have been continuously filled). A few time slots are available for private lessons on the June calendar. Please ask if you are interested.
